o()xxxx[{::::::::::::::::::> Hello! Welcome to my page. My name is Olivia Castiglione.
I am a senior Music Industry major here at SUNY Fredonia. I am passionate about music, crafts, and anything creative. In my free time, I book shows for Creek House, do interviews for Fredonia Radio Systems with their legacy show called The Local Lo-Down, and play in my band ICUP (drumming is a new endeavor for me). Also, I recently started a role as manager with a sick band called Bug Day who’s based out of my hometown Rochester, NY!
This page is a part of a class that I am in however; I’ve been finding that my screen time is atrocious, and I figure if that is the case with myself, then my peers (you) could feel this way as well. Here, I will use myself as a lab rat to test things that use little to no screen time to see if these hobbies are worth it. I hope that anyone reading can find something new they can try and become more present with life outside of a screen.
Here is the fun part: I will now share my current music taste. This can help you decide if my curation of non-screen activities would be of interest to you. This also allows you to get to know me better.
Starting off, I would love to share what music/artists I have been listening to. I am taking this information from my “heavy rotation” playlist that shows up on my streaming service. For sake of time, the top 10 on the list will be below:
- Tom Sawyer, Rush – I wake up and listen to this. Nothing gets me more excited for the day than this song. The drum part boggles my mind. Lots of cool rhythms.
- Undone, Failure – I am a massive Failure fan. The guitar and lyrics here are some of my favorites.
- slow, My Bloody Valentine – Walls of sound in music are another thing I really enjoy and MBV does it very well. The drums aren’t crazy hard to learn either.
- sour diesel, They are Gutting a Body of Water – Another example of a wall of sound. The first time I listened to this song and the album it’s on was when I was walking through the cemetery and that was extremely fitting.
- Make It Easy On Yourself, The Walker Brothers – I originally saw this in some skateboarding compilation on YouTube, and it has stuck with me. I love when people bring new life to old songs and this song is just beautiful.
- Moth Rock, Ovlov – This band has always been on my radar, and I never gave them a full chance until a few weeks ago. This song especially struck a chord with me. I love the vocals.
- Strawberry Cream, Oeil – My friend sent this song in response to a song I sent him called Spangle by Should because they sound similar. He was totally right and now I love both songs.
- Pepper – Tree, Cocteau Twins. Sometimes you know what they’re saying, other times you don’t. Either way, it sounds nice in my ears. This song has an extra eerie quality to it that I enjoy.
- Bull Believer, Wednesday. I love this band a lot. This song and its lyrics are emotional, and lead singer Karly Hartzman has such a way with storytelling, that it does not feel like an almost 9-minute-long song. Anything by Wednesday is worth a listen.
- Hell of a Zoo, Bug Day. I would be fake if there wasn’t a Bug Day song on here. Either way, this song is a personal favorite of mine. I love how heavy it is and if I were in a video game, this would be the song that’d play at the end of my training arc as I make my way to fight the final boss.
Now that you have seen a bit of my music taste, I hope you can either recommend me other songs you think I would like, and I hope that I was able to give you suggestions that you end up liking. See you in my next post. <:::::::::::::::::: }]xxxxo()
